About Me
Posts on Celebrity Big Brother star Jodie Marsh's Instagram account have been banned by the watchdog for not clearly marking unauthorised health claims about food supplements as adverts. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banned seven posts for JST Nutrition, a supplements firm owned by Marsh, seen in December 2020 and January this year. Both the ASA and the Competition and Markets Authority recommend upfront disclosures such as #ad for posts that have been paid for by a company.Rules have always required ads to be 'obviously identifiable', and the watchdogs have said that consumers should not have to 'play detective' to work out if a message is commercial. It comes after a number of reality stars were rapped and subject to ASA action after failing to make it clear they were being paid to plug products.
